Business of Honor- Book Recommendation
I read a lot of books. I don't often write a review or post something online, but this book is different. It's called "The Business of Honor" by Bob Hasson with Danny Silk. Though Bob is a business guy, this book is actually about relationships. (Of course, isn't that what business is anyway!?) Bob takes Danny Silk's principles of having a 'culture of honor" and appplies it to business and leadership.
What blew me away was how much of this book was actually about our own identity and what believe about ourselves. The second chapter, titled "The Journey of Identity" is one of the most concise and thorough explanations I've read anywhere about what orphan identity looks like and how it is at odds with the kingdom identity of being sons and daughters of God.
Here is a taste:
"This false identity we must unlearn is the orphan identity. This is the identity we form apart from relationship with God. It is, in fact, a lack of identity- a lack we attempt to fill on our own. Classically, we fill it with what we have, what we do, and the people with whom we associate."
"The true identity we have received, and must learn to walk in, is the identity of a son or daughter of God. This relational identity is the only identity strong and comprehensive enough to be a firm anchor point for our lives." I could go on and on quoting so many great things that Bob shares. It is a fantastic book for anyone, especially people in any type of business or leadership.  I will be rereading this one for sure.
(BTW, I don't get anything for recommending this book. In case you were wondering! :) )
